Philosophy

We start students young in performing, and they become confident, poised, and eager to share their talent.  We believe in sharing music everywhere -- recitals, festivals, competitions, churches, retirement centers, and with family and friends.  As these students grow and become adults, it is our hope that they continue to share their music.

We believe in ourselves as learned and experienced teachers.  We believe in our students and their possibilities for wonderful growth and maturity in performing as we learn together in our studies of music.  As teachers, we belong to local, state, and national music organizations and pay dues so that the student may enter performance festivals.  The student pays entrance fees, and the teacher completes the necessary paperwork to enter the student.  We also spend many volunteer hours in these organizations throughout the year and on the day of the festivals.  The teacher decides which festivals/competitions will suit the student based on practice time, progress, lesson attendance, and readiness weeks before the competition.  When students participate in festivals, they are already winners because they have practiced, learned, and performed beforehand.
