Additional Opportunites
In addition to weekly lessons, Raleigh Conservatory of Music offers additional performance opportunities for our students throughout the year.
Community Outreach/Performance - Students have the opportunity to perform at local nursing homes, churches, etc. throughout the year. One or two performances are also scheduled each year for students at local malls.
Competitions - RCM faculty are members of local and national music associations which host music competitions. Faculty prepare students for these competitions by teaching them required literature from standardized lists.
RCM Performance Festival - This is a competition hosted by RCM at RCM for our own students. Students compete in various categories including Sonata, Concerto, Sonatina, Baroque, Romantic, 20th Century, Boogie and Jazz, Hymn Playing and Arrangements (for church music), Outstanding Performer, and Solo.
College Preparation - We are unique in our ability to prepare students for college entrance. Students interested in collegiate musical study are guided by our experienced and certified faculty through the process of college selection, literature selection, audition scheduling and preparation, and scholarship auditions.
Senior Recitals - RCM Junior and Senior Students who will be graduating may give a solo or duo recital.
Masterclasses - Held at RCM several times each year. These masterclasses are public lessons given at RCM by distinguished pianists and teachers. Several students from RCM will be chosen to participate in each masterclass. All students, parents, friends, faculty, and community members are welcome to attend.
Student Recitals - Students of RCM participate in two recitals each year hosted at RCM. These recitals are open for attendance by all students, faculty, parents, friends, and community members. Students perform one or more prepared pieces from memory for a large audience.
